WILD DEER WREAK HAVOC IN UK AS RESTAURANT DEMAND PLUNGES FROM LOCKDOWNS

The UK deer population is surging due to decreased demand from restaurants in UK and EU. The majority of UK venison harvested from our countryside is either consumed via UK restaurants or exported to restaurants in the EU (mainly Germany and Belgium). Due to lockdowns and closures the demand has plummeted leaving many deer managers with no markets for their venison and as a result they are not culling. The impacts of this on UK wildlife are huge….too many deer will not only result on more car accidents involving deer but more importantly it has a detrimental effect on biodiversity.
